Biographies

Gas City’s own Jesse Beals is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Now, he is covering southern Indiana with his clever and thought-provoking original songs and razor sharp banjo playing. Jesse spent his school days playing in punk and metal bands, all the while writing and playing acoustic originals. You can find the Beals Man in the honky tonk playing drums with his longtime pals in the Rhett Family Band, at tattoo shop,  around a bonfire with a mandolin, or leading the charge with Low Landers.

New York born Kurt Hubbard bounced around east of the Rockies as a child and finally landed in his adopted homeland of Indiana when he was 11. Later Kurt moved to Nashville, IN and that’s where he was bitten by the bluegrass bug. In 2014, he started driving the van for the bluegrass band, New Old Cavalry. Since then, he has been involved in the scene – not just as a musician, but also volunteering his time at festivals. Kurt was a later addition to Low Landers but his bass playinig has quickly become an irreplaceable ingredient of the band’s sound. When Kurt’s not holding it down behind the bass, he is probably chasing around one of his 4 dogs.

Scott Bratton Hails from Upland, IN where he was steeped in country music. Scotts guitar playing, songwriting, soulful vocals and impeccable lyrical recall have been the driving force in the honky tonk band Rhett Family Band. As a founding member of Low Landers his rhythm playing and harmony singing have become the corner stone of the bands sound.

Devin is multi instrumentalist, singer songwriter who started out backing up his old man, Thom Brown’s original music on stage, when he was 15.  His dad is still his biggest supporter, musical confidante, and songwriting inspiration. Over the years he has picked up several instruments and played with lots of different string band projects.  In recent years he has focused a lot on bass, both electric and upright on stage and in the studio.
Working with creative artists to mourn and celebrate our human condition through original music is his thing.  In recent years his role has mostly been that of a side musician, supporting songwriters in the studio and on stage in various configurations with guitar, backing vocals, bass (upright and electric) and of course mandolin and dobro as seen with Low Landers.
